FREEPORT — Patrick Sellers promised voters that he’d change the way Freeport Township does business if they chose him as the next township supervisor.
Voters obliged, and Sellers’ first order of business came Tuesday: He closed the township office for two days.
It was a necessary, if inconvenient, move because the transition of power from Supervisor Sheila Hooper did not go smoothly, Sellers said.
He and newly elected Clerk Barbara Burns showed up to work Monday, their first day on the job, but no one could or would show them where township records and financial documents are kept or explain how the office was being run.
